Using the info in this book successfully

I am an in-home caregiver to a loved one with severe paranoid schizophrenia. The information in this book has helped me enhance the quality of life for my loved one tremendously. We still use medicines prescribed by a psyche doctor but we use the niacin too. It has greatly improved her fatigue levels, her blood work, and her depression. She is less prone to the nightly voices so I would definitely say that used with medicine, it can really really help. However we have not used these wonderful methods without regular high doses of mental health medicines.
The one downside is with her energy levels up, she thinks she is suffering anxiety more. She is not used to having energy or a better quality of life so I frequently have to remind her that some energy and some stress is normal for the human body.

Anyone who is, or has loved ones affected by schizophrenia should read this

I have been using the vitamin regimen prescribed in this book for my son, who is schizophrenic and very depressed. We have been using the orthomolecular approach for about a month, and it's already starting to help. He is down to half of his prescribed medicine and feeling better. I wish everyone with loved ones who have mental problems would read this book. It's just too bad that doctors like Dr. Hoffer don't get the attention and credit they deserve. . While conventional medicine can do amazing things with surgery and some other procedures, many conditions are much more safely and effectively treated using natural methods, such as orthomolecular medicine, than with drugs. It's criminal that many natural practitioners are ignored, ridiculed or even persecuted. I'm not a conspiracy nut, but it makes me wonder when I think of how many people in the medical establishment are making so much money from people being sick. Anyway, this book is excellent and very useful. I have already used some of the treatments successfully. I hope the day will come when conventional medicine and alternative medicine work together. Most prescription drugs are very dangerous and cause more problems than they solve. Even if the orthomolecular method wasn't effective, which it is, at least it isn't harmful.

Hope for Schizophrenics.

Short and to the point! Filled with excellent information and understandable explanations of the biochemistry of the mind as it relates to schizophrenia. If Psychiatrists would read this book, there might not be so many drugged out mental patients. If you or a loved one have been diagnosed with schizophrenia I recommend buying this book. There is sound research behind the suggestions for helping and even curing schizophrenia by balancing the chemicals that are missing and needed by the brain. Food and supplements, not pharmaceutical drugs are the keys to helping.
