About the Author
Corrie ten Boom (1892-1983) was born in Haarlem, The Netherlands. Her family owned a watch repair shop, which housed the "hiding place" where many Jewish people and Resistance workers hid for their lives. After her arrest and release from the Ravensbrück concentration camp due to a clerical error, Corrie was invited to share her experiences in more than sixty countries.
The Hiding Place was first released in 1971.

Elizabeth and John Sherrill have co-authored numerous bestsellers--classics such as The Hiding Place, The Cross and the Switchblade, and God's Smuggler--and have traveled the world researching and writing articles and books. Formerly senior editors and now roving editors for Guideposts magazine, John and Elizabeth co-founded Chosen Books, along with Leonard and Catherine Marshall LeSourd. John and Elizabeth have three grown children and live in Massachusetts.

A Jew's View--Thank you

I was absolutely absorbed by this book. I looked forward to every time I picked it up to read. I must start by saying that I am Jewish and absolutely do NOT share the religious views of Corrie Ten Boom. But, this story is so engrossing and moving that my religious views were irrelevant. This is the remarkable story of a remarkable family that literally laid their lives out to save Jews in Holland during WWII. These are people I wish I could hug. Don't be put off by the religious views expressed. Those views caused heroic people to show mercy and empathy in the most brutal period in recent history. The views were not preachy. I only wish that I could do something good for any person that would give respect for the wonderful people in this story.

I saw Corrie ten Boom in San Diego Ca in 1976. She spoke of her times in prison , her father ,sister....The book changed my life. She and her whole family inspire me even today. The book is easy to read and tells a story that puts a seed into your soul and it grows and grows. You will read this book many times as it is food for the soul. God will bless you through Corries words of not just her survival but all the miracles that took her to freedom!

This book showed me that, yes we will have tribulation in our lives, and sometimes very overwhelming tribulation, but if we keep our eyes on God, the author and finisher of our faith, we can be victorious over-comers in ANY and ALL of our life's situations." Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God" Romans 10:17. I loved it.

In 1910 Mexicans rebelled against an imperfect dictatorship; after 1940 they ended up with what some called the perfect dictatorship. A single party ruled Mexico for over seventy years, holding elections and talking about revolution while overseeing one of the world's most inequitable economies. The contributors to this groundbreaking collection revise earlier interpretations, arguing that state power was not based exclusively on hegemony, corporatism, or violence. Force was real, but it was also exercised by the ruled. It went hand-in-hand with consent, produced by resource regulation, political pragmatism, local autonomies and a popular veto. The result was a dictablanda: a soft authoritarian regime.

This deliberately heterodox volume brings together social historians, anthropologists, sociologists, and political scientists to offer a radical new understanding of the emergence and persistence of the modern Mexican state. It also proposes bold, multidisciplinary approaches to critical problems in contemporary politics. With its blend of contested elections, authoritarianism, and resistance, Mexico foreshadowed the hybrid regimes that have spread across much of the globe. Dictablanda suggests how they may endure.

Morgan Dane - Lance Kruger Book One

I just now finished "Say You're Sorry." This book kept me awake as I couldn't put it down.
Just wanted to tell someone, anyone, what a good book. So well written
I'll write a review (or try to). The book was so good I'm not sure I'll do it justice...but I'll try. I fell in love with the characters...and wonder of wonders I didn't figure out who the culprit was until the author wanted me to. Most of the time I can figure it out but not this time. There was never a dull moment.
I wish I didn't have to wait until September for "Her Last Goodbye" to see what Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger have to deal with.

This is the first book in a new series for Melinda and it is a great start! The book will grab your attention right ...

Morgan Dane has returned to her home town of Scarlet Falls with her 3 daughters after her husband is killed in Iraq. When her former babysitter is brutally murdered a neighbor teen is arrested. The teen is known to Morgan's family and she can't believe he is guilty. She agrees to defend him against the charges. She asks her friend, ex cop and now private eye, Lance Kruger to help her investigate the case.

This is the first book in a new series for Melinda and it is a great start! The book will grab your attention right from the beginning and not let go til the end. There are a lot of twists in the story, some I didn't see coming. I look forward to reading more about Morgan. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Great Start!

A new series from Melinda Leigh and one of her best books. A story of recovery and perseverance. Morgan Dane has returned home to Scarlett Falls with her daughters after the death of her husband. After taking time to be with her children she decides it's time to get out of the house and rebuild her life. All does not go as she planned and that makes for a great book. I couldn't put it down and can't wait for the next one!!
